Westport Fuel Systems: people and sustainability, a commitment that translates into concrete action
A focus on the local area, the environment and the well-being of the community remains a core value for Westport Fuel Systems. In recent months, the company has promoted and supported various initiatives that demonstrate its concrete commitment to ESG, actively involving its employees.
These include participation in SPAZZAMONDO 2026, the large-scale collective litter-picking event promoted by the CRC Foundation and organised thanks to the collaboration of numerous local bodies and organisations, including Confindustria Cuneo. The event, held on Saturday 23 May, involved over 14,000 citizens, schools, associations and businesses, all united by the goal of looking after their local area.
Westport Fuel also joined the initiative, choosing to involve not only its employees but also their families. It was an experience that went far beyond simply collecting waste, becoming an opportunity for sharing, raising awareness and active participation, capable of strengthening a sense of belonging and responsibility towards the community.
In addition to this, there is another initiative involving the company’s staff: over the past two years, employees have helped to collect plastic bottle caps, handing over more than 24 kg of material for recycling to the company responsible for this. The proceeds from the disposal of the plastic will be donated to the Blood Diseases Foundation, supporting important biological and genetic research projects.
The collection of bottle caps is, in fact, a simple gesture with a dual purpose: on the one hand, it contributes to environmental protection through the recovery and recycling of plastics by specialist companies; on the other, it generates funds for scientific research. The proceeds from the initiative now enable the funding of an annual contract for a genetic biologist engaged in research into certain blood diseases at the Haematology Research Laboratory of Niguarda Hospital.
Through these initiatives, Westport Fuel Systems reaffirms its commitment to promoting a corporate culture based on participation, sustainability and social responsibility, valuing the contribution of its people in building a more conscious future.
